Amazon KDP pays 35% or 70% royalties on Kindle eBooks and 50–60% minus printing costs on paperbacks (60% for books priced $9.99 and above, 50% for $9.98 and below). A $9.99 Kindle eBook earns $6.69 per sale at the 70% rate (after the $0.30 delivery cost on a 2 MB file). A $14.99 paperback (300 pages, black & white) earns approximately $4.39 per sale after the $4.60 printing cost. Hardcovers have higher printing costs but support higher list prices. Use the calculator above to see exact royalties for your book.

Kindle eBook earnings assume a 2 MB compressed file ($0.30 delivery cost at $0.15/MB, US marketplace). Paperback and hardcover earnings are after printing costs ($4.60 for a 300-page B&W paperback, $9.25 for the same hardcover). The 35% royalty option's minimum price rises with file size: $1.99 minimum for 3–10 MB files, $2.99 for files over 10 MB.
